StolieFast FactsLocation: Chicago, IL Campus Activities Magazine 2003 Reader's Choice Awards Nominee for: BioChicago-based, singer/songwriter, Stolie, glitters her shows with music and chatter about life and how silly it most oftentimes is. She was voted the "funniest female" in junior high and high school, and has brought that aspect of her character to her live show; she loves audience feedback, participation, heckling, and of course, laughter, and approaches every show with the challenge of affecting every person in the room. In fact, she's very likely to embarrass herself for the sake of a laugh, performing Irish jigs while simultaneusly playing guitar, blowing on a kazoo, or giving her best go at Eminem's "Without Me." (She is, after all, the one who learned to beat box Vanilla Ice's "Roni" when she was just 13.) A Stolie show is equal parts original music, familiar covers, and nonsensical banter in-between. Stolie performs mostly on guitar, but also likes to bring gadgets like her harmonicas, kazoo, loop pedal, and spot-on vocal impressions (Alanis, Bjork, etc.) Her voice has been compared to Jewel, Sheryl Crow, and Ricki Lee Jones.
