Mike & JoeFast FactsLocation: Chicago area BIOSince their first public performance in Bloomington, Indiana in 1991, Mike and Joe have become one of the most popular cover bands in the Midwest. Beginning as a two man acoustic duo, and growing into a full four piece band, the project continues to dominate the regional cover band scene. Beginning as a two man acoustic duo, Mike and Joe steadily grew their fan base, continually touring and performing exclusively as an acoustic duo featuring two acoustic guitars and strong and soaring vocals, and performing a mix of aggressive acoustic rock that delighted and amazed their audience. Their sound was unexpectedly huge, as the two attacked their guitars in an appealing high energy performance.
They dared to play music that "cannot be played on two acoustic guitars," and treated audiences to a simple, underproduced stage show and an impressive display of intricate vocal and guitar harmonies. Although many doubted that it could be done, club managers and talent agents alike have noted that Mike and Joe were the first regional duo to have crossed over to headline major mainstream clubs and theaters. In 1995, after establishing themselves as a major cover act in the region, Mike and Joe took the next step to expand and add members to the project. After holding open auditions, the duo added a rhythm section to the act and began to perform regularly in the four piece format. The addition of new members further increased the appeal of the band, and the group has continued to add new market areas and new fans.
Mike and Joe are now bigger than ever, regularly headlining major clubs and theaters in the Upper Midwest, and consistently drawing capacity crowds to its performances. Due to deliberate preparation and rehearsal, Mike and Joe continue to delight audiences with high energy performances and an exceptionally fun selection of music. The band enjoys top billing
in each of the markets it plays, and continues to successfully add new
markets and venues when the schedule permits. The band aggressively
interacts and informs its fan base through the use of a 9000 person
e-mail distribution list, and active website, a toll free concert line,
a 2500 person US mailing list, and an active program of fan education
at shows. |
