The songbird's admirers include Michael Jordan, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Roger Ebert, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Gary Sinise. Over the past decade this versatile, vivacious vocalist has sung everything from Bach to rock -- from big band and blues to gospel. Jordan's work as a backup singer with alternative rockers Urge Overkill put her in the national spotlight, as did her harmonizing with singer/songwriter and actor Tom Waits. House of Blues Records tapped Lynne's talent for its 1997 all-star tribute CD, "Songs of Janis Joplin: Blues Down Deep," which includes Etta James, Taj Mahal, Koko Taylor, Sly Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, Otis Clay, Tracey Nelson and Lou Ann Barton. Delmark Records 1996 hit CD, "Women of Blue Chicago," features Jordan belting two blues classics. Blue Chicago Records' 1997 blues women CD, "Red Hot Mamas," showcases Lynne covering Janis Joplin and Ruth Brown. Lynne's captivating voice has also found its way into local sporting events where she has sang the National Anthem at Chicago Bulls, Bears, White Sox and Fire games. |
