Bio

EL GUAPO are a dynamic four-piece band out of Chicago that have stretched the boundaries of rock music to new heights. The power of their recordings captivates the listener with Jordan’s melodic riffs, monster solos, and innovative guitar tones combined with Mike’s roaring guitars and hypnotic lyrics. Brian delivers pulsating bass groves while Chuck E’s stormtrooper drum style meshes everything together in a twist and turn thrill ride of rockstar anthems.

In January of 2000, El Guapo traveled to Hoboken, NJ and began recording at Water Music Studios with producer John Agnello (Eve 6, Dinosaur Jr., The Outfield) and completed 2 EPs. Since then, El Guapo and John Agnello returned to the studio in July 2003 to record 2 new records at Gravity Studios, Chicago, IL, completed in early 2004.

El Guapo has received constant radio play from Midwest college/Indie stations and has also done radio appearances on WLUW, Viva 103.1 FM, Mancow’s Morning Madhouse and WKQX (Q101) 101.1 FM, all in Chicago. In June 2001, El Guapo helped organize the first Spanish MOBfest showcase, participated in an English showcase and even had the first Spanish rock track ever to make the MOBfest Sampler cd, with the help of Rorie Valdez (MOBfest coordinator) and Roger Jansen at KMA Management (Disturbed).

El Guapo averages 75 shows per year. Their U.S. tour has included shows with Grammy sinners Juanes, Bacilos, and Atiercopelados at the House of Blues, a 2001 ASCAP showcase at Double Door in Chicago, a major-label/ASCAP showcase at the Viper Room in LA, CA, and multiple showcases at the 2005 Latin Grammy Conference in Miami. El Guapo have also recently appeared on HBO, E! and VH-1.

Most recently, El Guapo made !BOOM! Magazine’s list of the top 25 unsigned artists in Mexico, United States and Puerto Rico for the last 3 years running, appeared in Rolling Stone magazine in August 2003, and was chosen by Blender Magazine for inclusion on their Blender Compilation CD in the September 2004 issue. El Guapo also signed a sponsorship with Washburn guitars and Roland amps, and has recorded commercials for McDonalds!

If you haven’t heard El Guapo yet, you’re missing out on what all of Chicago is already hooked on. So go ahead and give us a spin. You’ll see the El Guapo is a sign of good things to come.
