Acoustic SideshowFast FactsLocation: Chicago, IL BioTHE STORY: Self-declared “The Best Damn Cover Duo in the Windy City,” The Acoustic Sideshow -- Stolie on guitar and vocals, Scott Schaefer on vocals and kazoo -- aims to offer a degree of professionalism oft overlooked on the boozy cover gig circuit. Their collection of oldies-but-goodies as well as classics and contemporaries that anyone from the age of 5 to 85 inevitably knows the words to, makes them a perfect live music solution for any event from dinner background to raucous backyard barbecue. With top notch sound gear, pro lighting equipment, and their super wonder twin powers, The Acoustic Sideshow can fake anything. And, the girl/guy factor finds them well-suited for weddings and other events involving love, love, and more love. How it got started.... In the early part of the 21st Century, Scott Schaefer (long-time lead singer for many a Chicago rock band) set out on a journey to find a counterpart for a two-piece acoustic cover band. With only a canteen of Kool-Aid and a bag of rabbits on his shoulder, he trapsed into the women’s ghetto of a local record label (where he was employed) and approached the fair maiden (er, his coworker, Stolie, recently back from promoting her original music on the road) and with great aplomb, declared "Stolie, oh Stolie. Let down your hair and I’ll mount your Ford Explorer so that we might, well, ‘explore’ the vast wilds of Wrigleyville, Lincoln Park, and the dangerous outer fringes of the greater Chicagoland area, bellowing our chorus of cover tunes while you strum your lute (er, guitar).” And so it was and will be for generations to come.
